HAPPY ACRES KAMPGROUND
The modern concept of "family camping" has led to the success of many campgrounds. It also has given many families, especially large families, an opportunity to go out camping at an affordable price.

Bill and Irene Davis established "Happy Acres Kampground" after having camped at many different campgrounds. They used their best experiences, and set about building their idea of the worlds best campground. That was in 1970 !
Starting out as a site for a few campers, Happy Acres progressed year by year, trying out several different attractions to entertain the whole family. Happy Acres Kampground is located about half way between Chicago, IL, and Milwaukee, WI - 7 Miles off of Interstate 94.
Each weekend through the Summer is given its' own special Theme, starting with "Opening weekend" and going through "Customer appreciation weekend". For a complete run-down of the year 2008 activities, check the Schedule of Weekend Themes.
Reservations are definitely recommended for all weekends between Memorial Day, and Labor Day. Reservations are mandatory, and should be finalized at least two weeks prior to a holiday weekend. Three night reservations are needed for holiday weekends. See our Reservation Policy, and our Deposit and Refund Policy for the whole story.
There are "Tent sites" without water or electric, but most sites include water and either 15 or 30 amp. electric on site. Toilet and shower facilities are within easy access from anywhere on the grounds. Please consult the Kampground Map, Prices, and Frequently Asked Questions for more information.
After some 25 years of trial and error, Happy Acres exists as a refuge for hundreds of families who live in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin cities. The location is close enough, and yet far enough from the cities to provide the comfort of escape. The attitude of the staff is that if the kids are happy, so are the parents.
The camping rates are based on family units. One site equals one family, one family equals Dad, Mom, and all dependent children. Anybody else is considered a visitor or an overnight guest and is expected to register as such at the camp office. Those who fail to register are considered to be trespassers, and may be prosecuted.
Bill and Irene have spent literally many thousands of hours, working all year long to keep improving the campground, and are very proud of the facility, and its' reputation. They ask that all campers read the relatively short list of rules and regulations, most of which are pure common sense and courtesy to your fellow campers. The rules are for everybody's benefit, and are enforced. There is a 24 hour security service contracted for your protection.
